Galaxia Cortes-Hinojosa , DVM, PhD
Galaxia Cortes-Hinojosa obtained her veterinary degree (DVM) at the Universidad de Chile, Santiago in 2006. She then obtained a master’s degree in Marine Science at the Universidad Catolica del Norte, Chile in 2009 working on Humboldt penguin population dynamics. Since 2010 she has been working on her PhD at the University of Florida. Her dissertation topic is on adenoviruses in pinnipeds, and she is also working on projects including herpesviruses in California sea lions; adenovirus and herpesvirus discovery in marine birds, and UME investigations. She graduated on December 2014 and currently is a post-doc.
